Since 2004, Healing the Children has helped over
1400 children get medical care and arranged for
over $2M dollars of donated medical care to children
unable to get medical help from any other source!
•
To date in 2005, we have hosted six community
health fairs and attended four others. We will
resume monthly dental clinics at Zellwood Elementary
School in October. These events are a great way
to reach a large number of families who need healthcare.
•
Our Local Kid program served an estimated 961
children between October 2004 and July 2005. The
total estimated value for these services was $94,690.
While approximately 600 children were seen at
health fairs, 361 required a referral to a specialist
or in some cases, a primary care physician.
•
The demand for services has prompted a few changes
at Healing the Children. Tina Heydorn has taken
on the role of Children’s Resource Coordinator,
a position funded by the Winter Park health Foundation.
•
International children make up a tiny portion
of our patients, with only nine being served since
October of 2004. But these nine kids received
a whopping $855,326 in donated surgeries and ancillary
services. We have plans to bring three more children
to the US in 2005.

Our Interim Executive Director, Angie Glick, comes
to us with 25 years of experience as the executive
director of the Northeast Chapter.

As a result of Angie’s experience and passion,
2005 marked our first medical mission trip. We
accompanied the Northeast Chapter of Healing the
Children to Shanghai. Along with a talented group
of orthopedic doctors and nurses, we were able
to train residents in the latest orthopedic procedures.
But perhaps the most exciting was the opportunity
to present Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
training to a packed house. This training was
so successful that other hospitals in Shanghai
have invited us to come present the class.
